"Achva" National Public School

The "Achva" ("Brotherhood") national school in Ramla counts about 600 pupils who
study in 18 classes, grades 1st to 8th. Achva, located in the city center, was
founded with the establishment of the Israeli state and is among the first
educational institutes in Ramla.
The pupils come from heterogeneous population. Part of this population is known
to be financialy well-established. Around 15% percent of the pupils arrive from
different areas with the aid of private and municipal transportation. Recently
there has been an increase in the number of enrollements from the arab sector.
Teachers staff and personel: At Achva there are some 40 teachers aside from other
administrative jobs such as secretary, attendant, nurse and service providers
from outside such as janitors, maintenance and security.
The teachers staff is senior and highly motivated. Most of the teachers
participate in advanced studies and completion courses in universities,
semminars, pedagogic guidance centers and programs run by the school itself.
The schools uniqueness is in the fact that it is considered to be leading in
fields of science, technology, computer applications and as such it takes on
itself many educational and social tasks. The school is in a state of momentum
and renewall that is characterized by being open to initiative in educational
-pedagogic fields as well as social and by integrating pupils who have special
needs.
The complete staff of theachers participated in drafting an "I believe" document
which states the schools policy and took an active role in adaptating the content
and substance of the document.
