The Muslums of Ramla
Among Ramlas residents about 18% are Muslums. This small community is a
remnant from the great Muslum settlement that existed in Ramla prior to
its conquering by the IDF.
Most Muslums live in the old city and earn a living as hired workers,
storekeepers, restaurant owners and agricultural workers.
Their children attend public schools in the range of their neighborhood.

Most Muslums live in the old city in an area named in Arabic A-SACNA
meaning "The neighborhood for the Muslums". Several mosques server as
places of prayer:
The great mosque
The Abu-Alaun mosque
The Alameh-Arabeh mosque
The Alkubein mosque
In the early 16th century Turkish Utmanian forces led by their sultan
SALIM the first, broke out from their Asian country and penetrated Syria.
After defeating the Mamlukians in a short battle they advanced through
all of Israel and also passed through Ramla in 1516. They continued from
there through the coastal region to Egypt and conquered this country as well.
In the early 16th century Ramla was the largest, most important resident
area. 25 years later on January 14, 1546, an earthquake hit Ramla.
Ramla, named by the Christians RAMA is mentioned as one of four cities
to be completely destroyed.
