Environmental Department

Ramla has made a goal to maintain a clean well kept city and to improve the city's appearance. For this purpose cleaning and enforcement activities have been increased, coincident with community participation and increasing awareness of recycling, environmental issues and improving city appearance.

The Environmental department's responsibilities

  • Improving the city's appearance. Increasing presence and enforcement for the purpose of maintaining cleanliness, enforcement of The Planning and Construction Act and various bylaws.
  • Disposal of garbage, trimmed foliage and left objects three times a week, by a permanent work schedule.

  • Public parks. Ramla has 44 parks including green lots, playgrounds, shaded sitting corners and more. For the public's comfort, the parks have garbage bins and designated facilities for collecting dog feces.
  • Clear out and donate. The city operates a center for collecting house equipment for the needy.
  • Increasing cleaning activities. The city is cleaned every day by cleaning workers and five road sweepers, in 59 kilometers of street cleaning. All parks in Ramla are thoroughly cleaned every morning.
  • Construction waste. In order to prevent construction waste disposal in areas within the city's limits, Ramla operates a special patrol vehicle to deter people from unlawful waste disposal.
  • Overseeing factories and businesses. The municipality supervises the activity of factories and businesses, in accordance with the terms of the business license, regarding the issues of sewage, quality of air, waste, storage and removal or dangerous materials.
  • Noise and radiation prevention. The municipality facilitates the supervision over sources of noise that disturb the residents, including demanding acoustic barricades. The municipality supervises the founding and operation of cellular transmission sites, facilitates noise testing from nearby businesses and performs radiation measurements from residences located near Israel Electric transformers or cellular transmission sites.
  • Water Saving. The municipality takes every measure necessary for saving water and preventing unnecessary water flow.
  • The city recycles. Increasing awareness of recycling waste – city trimmed foliage, cardboard, newspapers, plastic bottles, batteries, electronic devices and more.
